Change the filter is my 1st step for a noisy pump. When I bought my '84 it had a noisy pump, very noisy. The PO had changed the pump and wrapped stuff around it to quiet it down. Usually a new fuel filter will stop the noise, not this time. The van also ran out of gas at 3/4 of a tank. I put a new tank in for the 3/4 problem and that also fixed the pump noise. Now when it gets noisy I just change the filter. Cheap & easy.
