What year and original tire fitment? There are two different tire carrier set ups from the factory. The clam shell and bars from the 205/70 will take that tire with little effort. A longer front bolt and dropping the rear hinges will work. Be sure the tire does not rub on the steering shaft. Do note the load index on this size tire is only 95. A 215/70-14 would be a 96 and the General Altimax 205/70-14XL is 98.

Can 27in tires 27x8.5x14 be made to fit in the clamshell of a 2wd?

-Craig.
