Well, I tested the old motor today and it works great! This tells me the other is siezed - so I didn't bother witht he meter testing at all. So I at least have a plan of action. 1. Remove the dash again (it's easier the second time right?) 2. Split the heater box (looks like I might be able to dop that in place) 3. Replace the heater blower 4. Put it all back together.
The only mystery left is finding the original hot lead that went to the blower switch - should be easy enough with the dash out. What should I use to lubricate the blower motor before re-entombing it? Will a little WD-40 do the trick or should I actually use some sort of grease on the ends of the shafts? Merry Christmas everyone - looks like i'll be spending my Christmas working on the bus :) - Gotta love it!
