thanks, Jim. I actually thought of that as the box does have the weld tabs. 1/2 of one broke while splitting. and I need to edit my post from `glue' to `seal'. silicone being the easiest to reverse a couple-three owners in the future ... =(:D) mike

The best way I have found to seal the housing without metal clips is to drill the plastic tabs around the perimeter and fasten the halves with zip ties.
You just make a lot of future work by gluing it.

The $59.00 one is Meyle brand while the more expensive one is AEG. Van Cafe sells either Febi/Bilstein or Dansk (i'm assuming they ship whichever one they have in stock) also for $59.00. I haven't checked any others yet (Ken, which one do you sell?) but I am well aware of the old saying "You get what you pay for", but is the $156.00 one really that much better? I guess I'm a bit bummed, because this is the year I was finally going to get heated gloves so I could ride my motorcycle in winter and not have to unfreeze my hands from the grips. Heated gloves are, well, right around $160.00. FWIW, we took the Vanagon down to Charlottesville, VA. yesterday (about a 200 mile round trip) and even without a front heater motor my wife and daughter kept telling me to turn down the heat (just had the rear one
going)
