WD-40 is a fine lubricant for things like door hinges sliding tracks, bolts
etc. it is not a lubricant for things that needs long term or high temp
lubrication. Most motor bushings-bearings consist of some type of porous
material like sintered bronze or something known as oilite.
Blower motors do have a finite life. Usually the bearings become a problem
at the same time the brushes and the commutators are also near their end of
life. Magic ways of adding lubricants only extend the inevitable and can be
dangerous. Oil and spray lubricants exposed to arching parts like motor
brushes makes for vapors that ypu can breathe is and can also cause a fire
hazard.

I sure wonder what 'this thing' is about WD-40.
it is a FINE lubricant ..
and it lists that property right at the list of 4 main properties it has,
right on the can.
I have sprayed WD-40 on about 25,000 mechanisms and electrical things.
I couldn't fix cars or vanagons without it.
I use many other spray lubricants too, like Triflow . ( ..nice smell ! )
where moisture is a factor ..
and also on electrical things ..WD-40 is great.
heck, I've gotten ignition points to conduct again with a bit of scraping
and application of WD-40.
I would even say it's 'a perfect product.'
it's never done me wrong.
it's sure not going to hurt.
and of course..
where a thicker lubricant, like say on a hinge ..is wanted .
use something thicker..
or ....sometimes I do WD first, then a thicker lubricant next.
It's a federal law.......that if someone mentions WD-40 ..
someone has to chime in with something like 'it's not a lubricant.'
it's all good though.
