I've noticed several zip ties (black) throughout my 83 Westy from the factory? holding strong. Certainly they are not exposed to direct sunlight.
Jeff - where would you get a spool of wax string? (Not that I'll rush out to buy any.) Really hate using that material! Only did for four years, in the Navy, it was always cutting into my fingers trying to get the right tension to prevent wire bundles from chaffing in/on aircraft.

I've only really seen them fail when exposed to UV light. Hidden away in a dark box for years good quality ones would probably be OK. Jeff Stewart ----- Original Message -----
