that and you need something sticky ....that also remains pliable , such as Permatex High Tack gasket sealer.

Undo the 10mm nut completely ..take the mirror base apart... what I found on the last one that I treated this way .. it's was a double ball and socket sort of .. like a hemisphere shaped piece between two spherical shapes....which doubles the friction area ... the issue is that stock those surfaces are still too slippery .. put High Tack on both surfaces.. and it's nicely sticky, can still move some, and stays where you put it.

And I think you need a 10mm wrench and a Phillips head screwdriver for when your mirrors flop back in a headwind and need to be tightened.
