Have never seen or heard of a part pysically jamming a front heater fan. and still.. the way to make sure you don't get parts you don't need is .. take it apart and see whatcha got. if you have to half-install the dash to drive it a week or two that's not so bad. And vanagon dashes are not that bad at all really to remove and resinstall.. and .. you might even be able to fix it .. AND .....you won't know that until you take it apart. Once upon a time that was how lots of people fixed things usually ......first step.. take it apart, figure out how it works..often just cleaning and a tweak or two fixes things . but in all cases... take it apart as a first step. It's the most effective first step, and it's free to do. I don't get why people think 'part' first so often .. when dissasembly and inspection will put you on the right path for sure.
