I think the better question is "why do people invent reasons that alternative Vanagon repairs won't work just fine?" In my case, I used zip ties because the metal clips were not available when I needed to change out the heater blower before an out of town trip. I didn't have time to order any, so I used an item that has held up well in dozens of spots around my 28 year old Vanagon. If there was serious concern about sticking to the original methodology, we would all glue our cases back together. Jim
