I've been driving around a VW of some sort (most of the time) since 1972, usually a bus <shrug>. I learned to turn wrenches with help of John Muir & his book, had long talks with him even after he had passed away. I learned and kept the VWs running. One thing I learned about VWs electrical problems (and electrical problems other places) is add a ground. I guess in those days if I'd known more I'd have cleaned/fixed the ground that was there but adding another ground often helped.

Electrical problem? Add a ground. of course if the fuse fell out the new ground won't help much but that was a lesson I learned later <g>
