Thanks, George, Steven, Derek, OlRivrRat, Jeff & Jeff, and everyone else, That's a pretty good start, all right. I will be winnowing out the non-contenders and eventually will fill the gaping hole in my dash (with the decorative wires hanging out) with a proper radio/CD unit. After my long trip last summer I came to the conclusion that I missed having a radio! Cheers all, Gary

The only thing to be careful of is finding a unit that has the kind of selection control you want.... Derek Drew said: I just bought the really great Alpine 4 channel x 150W RMS power amplifier (600W RMS total), which fits great under the dash so you don't have to take up the valuable under-seat space for your power amp. (snip) ......could not see the faceplate properly in a Vanagon and swapped their Alpine out for another brand in frustration. Jeff Schwaia said: I put a Pioneer DEH-7300BT in my Tristar. By far the best stereo I've ever had in a Vanagon. Great sound and the hands-free phone operation was excellent, even when cruising down the freeway |
