Carfax doesn't operate like it used to. In the past, an individual could sign up for 30 days of unlimited Carfax access for a reasonable amount. Now, Carfax sells individual reports for $35, or 5 reports for $45. Their real cash cow is the used car dealer market. If I remember correctly, Carfax charges about $500/month for a business account.
