This is not a van I bought but one I went to look at. The seller was a dealer and obviously unfamiliar with Vanagons. Although the text of the ad was extensive and thorough you could tell it was written by someone not a devotee. The lady left me to inspect the van on the lot and as she was walking away I called out, "Did you happen to look under the back seat?" I was able to show her that compartment crammed with stuff; shoes, books, video games, papers, shopping bags. Probably lots of other good stuff I did not dig to find.

When I bought my van, the poptop bed was perfectly made up with sheets and a really good wool blanket, one of the "Hudson's Bay" type blankets. I offered the bedding to the seller, and he just said, "Really, well I guess it's yours now." He was the second owner of the van, used it very little, and I suspect he didn't even know the stuff was there until I raised the top when I was inspecting the beast.
