I've got problem with a leaking assembly plug in the pan of an 81 Westy. Had it in the shop for a new front seal and the mechanic told me that he had noticed this plug leaking and had applied sealant. Upon inspection I found that he merely smeared a heavy layer of silicone on the outside of the plug. Needless to say it still leaks. I've got the engine out to replace the throwout bearing and the pilot shaft bearing and would like to repair this leaking plug properly. Unfortunately I'm unsure of what the proper repair procedure is. I'm at a disadvantage in that all I have is a Chilton's and the Idiot's Guide. I think that I'm going to need to find a Bentley. Any advice/BTDT/opinions will be appreciated. Gary Meier
