Flashback. I'd been thinking about this and finally got around to asking my friend who lives across the border in SC where they do not require tags on (at least small) trailers. I asked him what would happen if he went to another state that did require a tag. He said he could just produce his ID showing he was from SC and that would be it. He has about 10 years in law enforcement. NC recently opened a toll road. From what I have heard the toll collection is completely automatic based on cameras shooting your license plate and sending you a bill in the mail.
