David,

finally got around to raising the aim of my headlights - you commented on how low they looked. I used the instructions given on Daniel Stern's lighting site, a flat parking lot, and a wall.

I did with a friend, his '91 syncro with SA grill had the main lights completely wall-eyed. Very big improvement after doing his. The inner highs on the SA grill has a distinct hot spot, horizontal rounded rectangle in shape.

I think Al Knoll has commented a few times at how it is an unsatisfactory compromise when vertically aiming vanagon headlights, (due to the height of lens, something like around 38" to centre). Point taken, but even so I noticed a big improvement with bring my lights up a tad.
