I've got tons of connecting rods, broken and otherwise.

if you don't care about the case.. it's normal to take a wedge or chisel to the top of the case above the flywheel.

unless you have a good impact gun.. it's much harder to get the flywheel and crank pulley off the bare crank. I just glanced at a waterboxer case and did not see any case-holding bolts behind the flywheel , but would consider that possibility.
