it engages into the case about 3/4 of an inch or so... once all case nuts and bolts are removed.. and the oil pump cover and gears... if you don't have an oil pump puller.. which is a threaded rod with a fork at the end that engages in the oil flow holes in the oil pump.. use a thin chisel at the edges to wedge it out .. work evenly on both sides of course. You can drive it out that way for sure. Just getting it started to move is the main thing...they are usually are not stuck that desperately. Heat helps sometimes.

I suppose also ..if it sits on studs.. remove those from one case half.

Pull the pump body off - it spans both sides of the case.
