If you have the old-style controller (twice as tall as wide) then you need to replace or have replaced the capacitor inside the temp gauge. If you have the new-style controller then you still have differential diagnosis to do. You still haven't said what year this beast is, or did I miss that? If it's '85- the controller is on the left sidewall above and forward of the fuse/relay panel, probably visible with some difficulty through the instrument panel opening. If it's '86+ the controller is third from the left in the top row of the fuse/relay panel. Either way it has 42 or 43 painted on it.
