I'd be curious if fitting this adapter on the tank wouldn't cause issues getting a fill hose on there. It's already pretty tight to begin with. Let us know how it works out if you do go this route.

I'm thinking about getting one of these for my tank.  The 1 and 3/4" ACME threads are the same as what is on a typical BBQ tank.
