You're being a little loose with your math... 135p for a liter, 3.8 liter/gallon = 513p for a gallon, or about $8.00 US.

I agree that US prices are much better than Europe. But hey, it helps our trade balance!

Prompted by comments about has I wrote my brother who is right now in Spain. Here is his reply.

Doing the math at one sterling pound being equal (today) to $1.56 it means it will cost you just about $10 a US gallon in the UK. Could be skittle more or less due to the prices differences in different regions.

So, I think, anything around $4 a gallon here in the USA is still inexpensive comparing it to Europe prices.
