I just bought a used MAC impact gun at a pawn shop that's spozed to develop 800 ft.lbs. of torque in the "reverse" mode, so removing enough shrouding back there should be able to get an impact gun in there and letter rip. Once the bolt is off, you're still only half way there as I've been told extricating the pulley is no fun either....I believe mine is leaking too, but need to get the substitute vehicle running before I tear apart the Vanagon.
