The '84 I cut up (& later opened the cap to see the sump area but did not take a picture) had no rust, no screens either. The van was running out of gas at the 3/4 tank mark and the fuel was really noisy. The new tank cured everything. I feel better now that I've actually 'seen' the screens <g>.
