I have experienced a automatic transmission failing right after a fluid change. It had very high miles,no previous services done, etc. The reason this happens is the bands have worn and all the friction materials worn off bands is now in the fluid. These materials in the fluid are acting as a "traction" aid for the componets in the tranny. When you the flush all those contaminets out things lose their "grip" and start slipping with the new clean fluid. So your tranny was already worn and was already on the path to failing. I wouldnt recommend it but I did get a tranny to stop slipping after a fluid change by putting the old used fluid back in. I made sure to agitate it in the pan so all the crap that settled was poured back in.

What the the pros and cons of serviceing my transmission? should I just change the fluid and not disturb the filter or go ahead and change the filter and fluid and hope for the best????? > > > > > > Thanks in advance for any information on this. > > > > > > Chris S.
