FWIW, the Brazilian (California Imports) tank I installed on my '81 *likely* has an outlet screen under this:

I did not know enough at the time of install to look for a return filter.

Do these less expensive Brazilian tanks have a return filter?

My guess is that whatever debris is picked up (wearing fuel lines?) on return route to tank would typically be minimal, but this is just a guess.

I'm only running a filter post pump.
