I have, in addition to my diesel westy NA, a 91 EcoDiesel turbo Jetta. It is an interesting car because the engine runs so lean that a catalytic converter can be used with it. The result is not much more power than the NA—a little—but it runs very clean. It gets 40 mpgs no matter how or where I drive it. I know it would do better with a regular turbo injection pump and a different exhaust, but I like the clean aspect of it.

I like everything about the car, pretty much, except the @#$% &$%&* &^&$%# @###$%#$ $$%^% %&* $&*^*^&* $%&%T*&*(&*^*& %&^&* belt system (it has AC, PS and was designed by #$%^&$#$). I sometimes feel like parting out everything but the engine and putting it in my Westy.

Anybody ever done that, and kept the cat?
