Subject: Temp Gauge Replacement
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

It was one of those lazy Saturday afternoons, and I had to screw around with something on the Vanagon! Here's the deal: A few weeks ago I scored an instrument cluster with a tach, my '85 Weekender didn't have one and the analog clock wasn't working as well. I was lucky to find that my instrument cluster harness matched the for a tach, but on installing it the LED bliked constantly. The temp gauge works, just the LED won't stop blinking. Someone said "just swap the old one from your old gauge cluster" Well....its not quite that simple, it is not a direct swap. The tach cluster gauge face is tapered at the corners, while the style without the tach is more squared. Had to drill out the tiny rivets holding the faces on and swap guts. I don't work well with tiny parts, but so far so good. I just hope the LED stops blinking!
