'clutch plate' is not the best term.
the two 'biggest' or most important wear item parts of a regular clutch are
the 'pressure plate' and the 'clutch disc' ...sometimes called the clutch
plate..
though 'clutch disc' is are more descriptive and accurate, and common as a
term.
when a clutch disc has 'had it' ....'usually' the symptom is slipping
clutch.
Some discs have coil springs to absorb shock...
if those fall out of place, things definitely won't work right.
could have a seized or stuck pilot brg ...
basically..
you work on it's either 'external' ..as in hydraulics,
or it's internal .
like an actual clutch assembly problem. ( disc, pressure plate, throw out
brg, pilot brg, cross shaft, etc. )
is the pedal pressure nice and firm and fairly linear in effort throwout the
pedal stroke ?
