Why would I make something up?
I assume your comment was "off the cuff" humour. I mean really. I do
my best not to make things up. ;)
Can't find the web page commenting on RH drive Hondas and drivetrain
orientation. Maybe I should have given that info more thought. That
said, IIRC, what I read suggested that on a RH drive Honda, since
steering linkage etc. was located on the RH side of vehicle (POV of
driver facing forward), Honda located engine on LH side. Then again,
of the 2 older LH drive Honda Civics I've owned, the engine was in
front of driver. My Haynes #633 shows same. I don't know if these
Civics were made as RH drive vehicles in Japan. For these LH drive NA
vehicles, maybe Honda adapted steering etc. to fit the drivetrain as
mounted? (this might explain how on a mid-late 70's Civic, the
passenger can depress the gas pedal linkage from the passenger side.
Really! Try it! It will totally freak out the driver! Do so at your
own risk!) Regardless......

Following your comment above, a CCW rotating engine mounted as per the
older Hondas, transaxle engaged in a forward gear, the wheels would
spin the same direction as motor.
As to why the older Honda engines rotated CCW:

But then a transverse mounted engine in the rear or front should make
no difference. e.g. a CCW rotating engine mounted on LH of vehicle,
transaxle on RH, would spin the wheels forward in either fore or aft
position.
