The ratio rockers do function. As to the performance increase it is incremental and probably only really noticed at high RPMS which you only want to use for short periods anyway. The down side is that they do increase valve train wear which really needs to be considered if you have AMC heads with the soft valve stems. The ratio rockers may wipe them out in short order. Along with your other modfications consider a complete 2.1 exhaust and the 2.1 throttle body which is larger than the 1.9.

Hello, I have been reading through the archives in search of some info on adding ratio rockers to a 1.9L waterboxer motor. There's some info on the 2.1L and issues with fuel mixture if you do not have the performance chip. I've eliminated the nasty restriction in the J-pipe and will be fitting a new muffler to replace my rusty one with a magnaflow or such. I've got Dijijet as it's a '84 1.9L with an automatic. Just looking for a little more oomph for getting up the mountain passes here in Washington. Already threw out the worthless AC system to save some weight ;~) So, the question - anybody have any experience doing this? Comments? Thoughts? The motor is a rebuild with only like 25K on it - I'm not really interested in putting in a Subie engine yet. Tom '84 Westy "Spiny Norman"
