Instead of a bad product that doesn't work, it is a good product that isn't needed. When I bought my '76 T2 (in '76) there were not all the detergent additives in gas. After a while it started to run rough. The official VW dealer recommendation was BG gas additive to clean the injectors. It worked. A can every couple of tankfuls. Then Techron came out and folks got religion. Maybe because Techron was California and also in a brand-name gas and BG was a little outfit in Wichita.... Later all major gas retailers started adding good additives to their gas. I have 160,000 miles on my '81 T3 with never a need for Techron (or BG). Ditto my other three cars, including the Syncro. But hang in there, Techron lovers, it helps make Chevron a great stock to own. And unlike Slick 50, it doesn't hurt! Richard |
