some gas may have more than 10% ethanol, but if so, it is currently illegal fuel. the ethanol lobby has been working hard to get 15% approved. there is 85%, but that is marketed for vehicles specially built to use it (and is available in very few places).

fuel is sold that is advertized as "ethanol free." my understanding is that what is required, in air quality non-attainment counties, is a given level of fuel oxygenation. since nbte is no longered allowed, ethanol is the cheapest alternative, and despite the opposite being true, it has been widely promoted as "green" fuel. but there are other ways to achieve the required oxygenation levels besides ethanol. i use the "ethanol free" fuel (and pay a premium of about $0.05 per gallon) when and where i can get it (widely available in this market).
