Read the directions please.

"please issue the following command to LISTSERV@GERRY.VANAGON.COM at your earliest convenience:

CONFIRM vanagon"

Not to vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com, but rather to LISTSERV@GERRY.VANAGON.COM

"In order to facilitate the task, this message has been specially formatted so that you only need to forward it back to LISTSERV@GERRY.VANAGON.COM to have the command executed. Note that while the formats produced by the forwarding function of most mail packages are supported, replying will seldom work, so make sure to forward and not reply."

If you're sending commands to the LISTSERV, you have to send them to the right address to have them work.

Typical commands for managing your account might be:

Query VANAGON - find out what your subscription options are set at SET VANAGON NOMAIL - turn off mail delivery SET VANAGON DIGEST - receive a daily digest rather than individual posts SET VANAGON MAIL - turn mail delivery back on SET VANAGON NODIGEST - turn digest off SET VANAGON ACK - receive an acknowledgement of eash post you make SIGNOFF VANAGON - leave us

All must be sent to LISTSERV@VANAGON.GERRY.COM

Oh, and most importantly! To verify that the list is functional, THANK YOU. You should receive a reply in a few minutes saying YOU'RE WELCOME Get the reply? Then the list is functioning as it should. No reply after 20 minutes or so? Let me know.
