Jonce is a longtime Listmember and the first guy I saw publishing about rainflies. He might even be the guy making these for GW.

I don't really like camping with the top down, so I pop it in all weather. Plus I really like the idea of the wasser-stopper providing a vestibule over the luggage rack.

>> Alistair, I have debated for a while either buying or improvising a rainfly. we have never had rain into the vehicle via the tent/top. recently i have read and been told that the tent is pretty good at turning water -- that it wll get wet, but that you won't get wet inside. have you had a different exoerience? we sleep downstairs, and we've always just closed or kept closed the top when we thought it might rain or snow. but, it is a hassle to rearange things that we've put up top. keep us informed about how well the gowesty cover works. i noticed a couple of others available that only cover the front of the tent. they seem less than adequate, but $150 u.s. is pretty expensive, too. how does a tarp jury rigged work? thanks, mcneely

A 2 straps are led across the van through the front door openings, and buckled together. This method does not seem to hold the front of the fly (the portion that covers the luggage rack) as tightly as I would like. I've also read (Samba) that water can wick inside via the straps. I'll be looking into modifying this.
