jim, thanks for this. pretty interesting. some thing might still apply,even (carry spare belts, oil ............ ). also interesting that vw simply assumed that folks would be driving in places where the modifications described would be a good idea. i don't think toyota supplies to its dealers instructions for adding a roof canopy for being out in the sun, or engine shield for rocky roads!
