You are asking answers to questions I have been pondering for 12 years of Westfalia ownership.

The most practical solutions I have come up with are:

1 - Small trailer towed behind Westy to hold most of campsite stuff. This gets locked and left behind while we're exploring the local area in the Westy. It makes Westy break-down and setup much easier by leaving the interior uncluttered. 2 - Bicycles. I bring those anyway, so for short errands I pedal about.

The other options include an expedition camping trailer and a Syncro or Geländewagen. This obviously eliminates Westy ownership. :-(

Chris.
