regardless of what they tell you gates DOES NOT make a belt that fits the vanagon. it needs to be a 9.5 mm width belt. Gates are 10mm. there is more to it than the .5mm difference the angle of the sides and the depth are different, the quick synopsis is that the 10mm belt needs to grossly overtightened to stop squealing and this is results in broken alternator mounts and bad waterpumps. mike
