Just a bit of clarification....

The T4, which was sold as the Eurovan in the states, was available in 115 and 131 in wheelbase. The T5 is available with wheelbase of 118 or 134. I've seen both the T4 and the T5 in person, and I can confirm that the T5 is every bit as portly as the T4.

You can find the various Transporters in a row here: http://www.vwcampersales.com/volkswagen-camper-van-stock-list/652/

Now, the Eurovan full campers, built on the long chassis, do have a luggage rack, where the Eurovan Weekender with pop-top, built on the short chassis do not. This is a function of the chassis length and the pop-top design, not the differences between T4 and T5.
