Subject: oil pump stud - never seize?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

I was putting my (almost new) oil pump back on my short block after finally getting the case halves back together when I found that the end of one of the studs wouldn't take a nut. I took it all apart and pulled the stud. The old stud had never seize on it, so I applied some to the new stud (M8x1.25x42). I expected the stud to bottom out and leave about 17.5mm exposed, but it kept going. Should I pull it again, clean it all up, and put it back in with a thread locking compound? Seems like I should, but wanted to run it by you all.

Thanks, Tom
