Mark, Alistair, and others, This is from Captain Mike some years ago:

Capt. Mike 04-28-2002, 09:31 AM On a US Westy, the Driver's side battery is an aftermarket installation -- they were not standard. See the 6-15-01 11:47 PM post above regarding removing/installing that battery which requires seat & swivel removal.

It was found here:

I do believe that it is correct, and that Canadian but not U.S. campers came with the auxiliary battery.

I also still am not clear about whether one can simply follow the installation instructions that are published, without upgrading any relays or wires. But thanks for all the comments.

The article I referred to stated that the stock relay and wiring are not adequate, and that heavier duty stuff is required. You disagreed, saying that the stock set up works. Now you agree with Dennis that it is not adequate, and that heavier stuff is needed, and that that is what you said in the first place. Can you see why folks could be confused? > > > > > > ---- mark drillock<mdrillock@COX.NET> wrote: > >> Right, the use of the fridge relay wiring for an aux battery is the poor > >> choice he and I refer to. > >> > >> Mark > >> > >>
