John, actually the cruise control troubleshooting is in the Bentley. It is just a little tricky to find as it doesn't list it in the index at the front of the book. Look on page 27.25 and then it continues on from there for several pages. It is one of the best, step by step, easy to understand and do, troubleshooting guides in the Bentley manual.

Usually I find that the problem is that one of the front vacuum switches at the pedals is out of adjustment. Check it with a vacuum tester and if it doesn't hold vacuum then adjust it until it does and you are golden. If you can't get the switch to seal, pop it apart, lube up the seal with some vasoline, and this should put you back on line.
