Could you form a shallow rectangular "pan" out of heavy duty aluminum foil?  The kind that is wide, about 18" or so.  Basically about an inch bigger on the sides than your fridge shelf; form the corners appropriately so liquid-tight.  (Like when I pre-bake chicken thighs before BBQing, I always line a 10" x 13" aluminum baking pan with the foil to eliminate cleaning of the baking pan; pre-form on the OUTSIDE of the baking pan first, then transfer to the INSIDE and push into corners for an exact fit.  Emeril Lagasse taught me that trick.)   Pour the can of plasti-dip into this foil pan, dunk shelf into liquid and submerge, maybe quickly flip over to cover all spots.  Retrieve, air-dry.  Just thinking.....haven't done myself....don't have a fridge in Westy....don't have a Westy...just a plastic ice chest.  Works for me.

Ha-ha!....cooking tips and Vanagon tips all in one....love this list!

So the fridge on the 89 I recently purchased needed some TLC.  I have cleaned it up and as I said the other day replace the cooling fan.  Oddly the wire racks were rusted in places and peeling their vinyl coating.  I removed the coating, so peeling with a knife and finished it off in the self cleaning oven cycle.  They are bare as a newborn's hind quarters!  Any idea where I could get them recoated with vinyl?  I bought a can of Plasti  dip, but I would need to buy a lot of that stuff to get it deep enough to dip.  Any leads?

Best, Finn
