I have had hankooks and found them dangerous at best in winter. Last year I ran old studded nokiana and ya, they rocked but I didn't really need the studded. This year I have continental snow tires on 15" rims and I'm amazed, there is no problem in snow and even mild ice. I simply cannot manage to spin a tire.

Good snow tires are necessary to keep a two wheel drive Vanagon running in the winter.
