The disadvantages seem self-evident enough to me.

One can get in or out of a car, if they need to, in the time that this
device takes to just get the window down (step one in lowering the
door). They can do it without exposing everyone on that side of the
car to the elements. Some people in the back, say, might not like
being exposed to the world every time the driver has to step out, as
at a gas station. The whole car would fill with cold in the wintertime
every time someone got in or out! Ever haul kids? How long would they
keep their hands/necks with this irresistable challenge?

And, last but not least, would have to call someone to extract you
from the car when this thing picked up a rock and jammed or sustained
a bump to the mechanism, or does it come with an escape hatch?

I notice that the copyright on the video is 2007. It didn't exactly
take off in the five years since then!
