hello Pete we work on a lot of these , they are a PITA to work on the auto trans werent very good, bad about window regulators. the 1.8T had sludge problems. do not let a timing belt break as it is an interference engine, the water pumps had a plastic impeller that breaks(new ones can be gotten with metal ones Graf brand has been the best. vaccumm hoses need replacing also coil problems later mark dearing salem imports salem va
