I often have to adjust the brakes on vans that need to be pumped to have
good brakes. The way I test it first is; I pull up the handbrake almost
fully then push the pedal. If the pedal is strong, the brakes need
adjustment because they did not get adjusted by the 'self adjuster' system.
But if the pull-up does not help, it is the brake master that's working on
it's second level.
