Of the automotive additive products out there Lucas probably makes some of the best in that they do what they claim. The oil stabilizer is basically a viscosity improver with some other benefits. If it is really beneficial can become another matter. My own thoughts are that if the engine is healthy and the correct products are used additives should not be needed. If you are still holding 40 psi on an engine of that mileage then things are good and the past practices have worked. While increased oil pressure appears to be a good thing this also brings increased horsepower loss in the way of oil pump losses and increased drag in the engine. In the extreme these increased losses can also mean higher oil temperatures.

Hello Volks-

For the last year I have been running my stock 2.1, which has over 200,000 miles on it, with four quarts of Castrol 20w-50 and 3/4 of a quart of Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer. Where I live it never gets below 30 degrees. I have noticed better oil pressure on my gauge- 60 to 40 range, instead of 40 to 20 range and no lifter noises. Anyone else have experience using this mix or an opinion that this is not a good thing to do.
