remove one (or both if you like) of the shock mounting bolts and the trailing arm will drop down enough for the spring to come out without the need of a compressor. I suppose you might need a compressor to get the spring back in if you go crazy with spacers, but you're not doing that, right? :)

sometimes the trailing arm needs to be pushed down a bit (your foot pressure) to let the spring come out.
