well, there are Fram filters, and there are Fram filters.  At least one list member who has an excellent reputation recommends the Fram Toughguard, the more expensive Fram.  But Mann and Mehle filters, bought from an online vendor, cost less, even with shipping charges.  I believe the same list member who recommended Fram Toughguard also is ok with Bosch filters, which cost about what Mann or Mehle filters do and can be bought locally in most areas.  mcneely
