When I was running a 2.1, lifter noise was an occasional issue, but after switching from Castrol GTX 20W50 to Mobil 1 15W50, it never happened again, no matter which brand of oil filter that I happened to be using. The bus was even down for an entire summer with transmission issue, but when we eventually started it, was oil pressure and not one peep from anywhere.

Eye heart Mobil1.

Still using it in an ABA conversion, with diesel oil filter.
